DANEGerus is shocked, absolutely SHOCKED:
So it is with complete shock I realized that 2nd and 3rd trimester terminations are legal somewhere? WTF? We can agree to disagree about whether mother's might be compelled to bring a pregnancy to term in the 1st trimester but there is nothing to debate when that child has achieved life as it should have human rights... like the rather obvious right to live.
This is part of the untold truth about abortion: Although Roe v. Wade created the trimester system of timing abortion, Doe V. Bolton, issued ON THE SAME DAY, defined women's "health" as including financial, emotional, familial, and even age factors. I.e. What Roe supposedly gave to the states by way of authority to regulate the PRACTICE of abortion Doe, on the same day, took away.
You mean, there's media distorion on the history of Abortion?
Why Yeah. Just like in Iraq.
Which brings me to the point. The anti-abortion crowd likes to call themselves Pro-Life. The pro-abortion crowd likes to call themselves Pro-Choice. Yet the pro-abortion crowd is lacking in a catchy-positive-baby-killing 'term' to match 'Partial-birth-abortion' which leads to these absurdly pandering quotes that keep showing up in the media.
Absurdly pandering quotes that keep showing up in the media?
You mean, the media take sides and slant the coverage?
Why yeah. Like in Iraq.
One wonders what DANE would think if he knew that the Presidents of the National Organization of Women and the National Abortion Rights Action Leage refuse to debate the President of National Right to Life, because the latter is a WOMAN? AND a DOCTOR?
You mean, the media carefully select who represents which side when doing a report, and makes sure that the "right" people are favorably cast, while those they disagree with are ignored or shafted?
Why yeah. Like in Iraq.
*Yawns* The Pro-life movement has Been There, Suffered That, and Has the Scars to Prove It. I could go on and delineate all the nasty, sneaky, dirty tricks the media uses to make sure that nobody really competent in presenting the pro-life position and refuting the pro-abortion arguments gains access to their audience. But you can see them all, in all their ugly glory, in action in the slanted, biased reporting coming from Iraq. All the way to the barely disguised, ad homniem attacks in which reporters, pundits, and opinion editors imply that they can read minds and Actually Know What The Real Motives Are Behind The Words, So Just Ignore What They Say and Believe What We Say About Them, Because You Can Trust Us.
The Blogosphere should be congratulated in seeing through such thinly disguised propaganda, understanding that these people are fallible and have prostituted the truth in service to their agenda. However, I have to wonder why some in the blogosphere insist that these same people, possessing the questionable character flaw of letting their agendas dictate the lies they print, have given them The Truth, The Whole Truth, and Nothing But the Truth about abortion and the "anti-abortionists".
Accountants will pre-assume that the books of a company they're auditing are correct, and an audit is the process of confirming that pre-assumption. However, the game changes when they find that the books don't balance by a penny. THEN, they start looking at EVERYTHING, make NO assumptions, and start questioning EVERYONE. Doing less will destroy their reputation and their company.
Ths is not to knock DANEGerus. He knows he is being ill-served by the media in Iraq, and he's just discovered that he's been ill served by the media when it comes to some of the facts on abortion. If this were baseball, then the media can demand that they get the opportunity to make another strike before being counted out. However, if this were like accounting, where the idea is that they're supposed to give an accurate picture of a given state of affairs, then perhaps the old chestnut "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me" probably still applies.
