Memo from the Dean:
I'm a regular at Rantburg, and when the subject comes to bashing the French, I'm as eager a participant as anyone else. Like everyone else, I see grave problems in the future of the French nation vis-a-vis their unintegrated muslim population. I'm not alone, as this recent roundtable chaired by Jaime Glazov at Front Page Magine Online shows. (via Little Green Footballs).
However, when it comes to the CONSEQUENCES of the decline of the French into becoming the first European nation to implement Sharia, I feel like I've been the lone voice in the wilderness worrying about the nuclear capability of the French. Despite their decline, the native (non-muslim) French are quite technologically competent, and I don't believe, as some seem to do, that their nuclear capability (not to mention their ability to loft nuclear weapons into orbit) will be somehow impaired by the time Sharia law is imposed. If the muslim pattern of Dhimminitude is implemented in France, the non-muslim French will be pressed into the service of Allah if they do not become Muslim. Given the history during the Second World War of breathless cooperation with the Nazis in rounding up and deporting Jews, one has to believe that the descendants of Vichy France will be equally cooperative bootlickers.
However, I am a lone voice no more: No one less than Steven Den Beste of USS Clueless has weighed in here and here. In the latter link, he also states his concerns about France's nuclear arsenal.
Now, in view of all the people who vainly worried about the loss of Iraqi cultural treasures during the taking of Baghdad, I want to go on record as officially worrying about the loss of all the French cultural treasures that embody the common heritage of Western Civilization when France goes Muslim.
The Mona Lisa, Notre Dame de Paris, Chartes Cathedral, Aix en Provence, the Chateaux in the Loire, The Bayeux Tapestry, Mont St. Michel.
Damn, when my #1 son gets old enough, will he be have the chance to bum about France to see these treasures that I had when I graduated from College?
Posted by ptah at June 11, 2003 10:21 AMwow, I thought I was the only one with this idea. I recently came back from France and it was like Istanbul. I didn't see one French in Paris. At Sacre Coeur, there were muslims dressed from head to toe all in black. What the frick! We should form a group to spread this new thread.
